Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 2 lbs sirloin steak or flank steak
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the bourbon, soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, olive oil, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir in the minced garlic and black pepper until the brown sugar is completely dissolved.
- Place the steak into a gallon-sized zip-top bag. Pour the marinade over the meat, seal the bag, and massage the liquid to ensure the beef is fully coated. Squeeze out excess air and refrigerate for 2 to 8 hours.
- Remove the steak from the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking to allow it to reach room temperature.
- For grilling: Preheat grill to medium-high and sear for 4–6 minutes per side. For stovetop: Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat with a drizzle of oil and sear for 3–5 minutes per side.
- Use a meat thermometer to pull the steak when it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare.
- Allow the meat to rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
