Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1.5 cups (300g) light brown sugar, packed
  • 0.5 cup (100g) white granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2.25 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp sea salt
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Whisk the melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar vigorously in a large bowl until smooth and glossy. Whisk in the egg, extra yolk, and vanilla until the mixture lightens slightly in color.
  2. Sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt directly over the wet ingredients. Use a spatula to fold gently until no more white streaks remain. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  3. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto prepared baking sheets and bake until the edges are golden and centers are soft.
