Ingredients:
- 6 cups (approx. 1.5kg) peeled and sliced Granny Smith or Honeycrisp apples
- 2 tbsp (30ml) lemon juice
- 3 tbsp (45ml) maple syrup
- 1 tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp (1g) ground nutmeg
- 1 cup (90g) old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1/2 cup (60g) almond flour
- 3 tbsp (45ml) maple syrup
- 3 tbsp (45g) melted coconut oil
- 1 tsp (2g) ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) sea salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, 3 tbsp maple syrup, 1 tsp cinnamon, and nutmeg. Transfer the mixture into a 9x9 inch baking dish, spreading them evenly.
- In a medium bowl, combine rolled oats, almond flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, and salt. Pour in the melted coconut oil and 3 tbsp maple syrup, stirring until the mixture looks like wet sand with small, pebble-like clumps.
- Spoon the topping over the apples, leaving a small gap at the edges to prevent overflow.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes until the filling is bubbling around the edges and the topping is a deep, mahogany gold.
