Ingredients:
- 1 package (16 oz / 450g) Phyllo dough, thawed
- 3/4 cup (170g) Unsalted butter, melted
- 1 can (14 oz / 397g) Sweetened condensed milk
- 3 large (150g) Eggs, room temperature
- 1 cup (240ml) Whole milk
- 1 tsp (5ml) Pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp (1.5g) Salt
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. Note: Use butter or non stick spray to prevent the bottom from sticking.
- Gently scrunch and fold sheets of phyllo dough into the pan to create random ridges and folds.
- Brush each layer lightly with melted butter until the pan is filled. Note: Don't flatten the dough; keep those peaks high.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and sweetened condensed milk together until smooth.
- Slowly stream in the whole milk, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Whisk constantly until the mixture is a pale, uniform cream.
- Carefully pour the custard mixture over the crinkled phyllo dough.
- Allow the liquid to seep into the valleys for about 1 minute before baking.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until the exposed phyllo edges are deep golden brown and the custard is set with a slight jiggle.
